AmeriCorps
Vermont Campus Compact's Americorp program
has two major components- Americorp*VISTAs
that are placed in our member institutions
and SERVE Education Awards
that are earned by students doing service while at our member
institutions.
Two new team members joined us in August.
Laura Rooney took over as the AmeriCorps Programs Coordinator
and Kathy Sims is the new AmeriCorps*VISTA Team Leader for
the 2009-10 VISTA Year.
Laura has three years of AmeriCorps experience (two years
of VISTA and one year of State). Her first year was serving
in Cape Cod in an environmentally focused program. Followed
by serving as a Marketing and Development VISTA and VISTA
Team Leader at Generations Incorporated in Boston.
Kathy spent a VISTA year at Clemson University (Clemson,
SC), where she worked in the Center for Student Involvement:
Leadership and Civic Engagement Office.
